Ron Davis with John Morris Russell and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra
An Exciting Endorsement for Symphronica
August 19 2009

RonDavisMusic, is proud to announce that John Morris Russell, Music Director of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, and conductor extraordinaire has given his endorsement to Symphronica.

Symphronica (www.symphronica.com) is Ron's project integrating original jazz trio playing with orchestral music. The energy of the former with the richness of the latter. Both fresh and entertaining.

Here is Maestro Russell's endorsement:

"Ron Davis' "Symphronica" performance with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra was a real smash. He is a wonderful pianist, delightful, funny and an entertaining host. He breezed between French and English and kept the audience in rapt attention throughout. Ron had the right blend of standards and originals (which are all excellent) and judiciously mixed it up between swing, samba, stride, be-bop and gospel. The arrangements are superb and the orchestra really enjoyed playing the show. Ron and his band were easy (and fun!) to work with; definitely one of the most popular Pops acts we have had since I have been here!"

He argues that, although musicians have all the training, study and rigour of other professions like law and accounting, their social valuation is rarely comparable. Lawyers' fees are routinely in the hundreds of dollars per hour. Musiciains' are in the hundreds of dollars per week.

Why?

The column looks at this issue. It has been generating discussion at www.facebook.com/rondavismusic and elsewhere.

A brilliant adventure. On his latest recording, My Mother's Father's Song, Ron Davis embraces both his family's rich cultural heritage, and boldly re-engages with the jazz standard.
